State DMV offices in Las Vegas, Reno to reopen Monday after internet outage

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- Nevada Department of Motor Vehicle offices are set to reopen Monday after an internet outage closed them for two successive days, the agency said on its website.

Social media posts by the agency said the closings Friday and Saturday were related to extensive damage to a fiber optic cable in Northern Nevada. The outages affected offices in Las Vegas and Reno.

Offices are expected to reopen Monday (Oct. 17), the agency said, and customers who had appointments for general services on Friday will be served as walk-in customers from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. during the week, starting Monday.

Customers should bring proof of appointment, such as the text message or email confirmation. This is limited to customers who had an appointment on Friday, Oct. 14, only.

Customers who had a driving skills test at any office will be contacted by phone to reschedule the test, the posts said.

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- A civil lawsuit filed Friday against New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara includes photographs of the alleged beating of a man outside of a Las Vegas nightclub and asks a jury to award the victim $10 million. Kamara, Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Chris Lammons and two other men face criminal charges connected to the incident outside of a Strip nightclub on Feb. 5 during the NFL Pro Bowl weekend. Las Vegas man shoots, kills victim who was threatening mother: police

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- A Las Vegas man accused of shooting and killing a man in August allegedly did it because the man had been threatening his mother, police said. Deangelo Gray, 32, is facing a murder charge in the death of Dwayne Thomas. On Aug. 28 just before 11 p.m., officers responded to reports of a man who was shot on the sidewalk at Sierra Vista Drive and Wilson Square. Thomas was found suffering from multiple apparent gunshot wounds and taken to the hospital, where he later died. Las Vegas police: Suspect arrested after deadly shooting in August Police learned that Thomas had been in a relationship with Gray’s mother. On the morning of the shooting around 8:30 a.m., the mother found fire damage to her apartment door.
