Balloons float through NYC for Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

MANHATTAN (PIX11) --- The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade descended on Sixth Avenue on Thursday.

Like every other year, it lived up to the hype. It was a time to enjoy, a time to make new friends, and a time to give thanks. 

Security was tight with extra NYPD officers at the ready. They weren't just protecting the parade,  the NYPD marching band also took part in the festivities.

The parade featured 16 giant balloons, 28 floats, 40 novelty and heritage inflatables, 12 marching bands, 700 clowns, 10 performance groups, a host of celebrity guests and the one and only Santa Claus.

With a mostly clear sky a light breeze, it was ideal weather conditions for these giant balloons. There were old favorites and new balloons too, inclding Striker the U.S. Soccer Star, executing an iconic bicycle kick in celebration of the FIFA World Cup, and Bluey, the Australian cattle pup making her parade debut. But it was a Snoopy that got really got kids excited. 

This annual tradition dates back almost a century, attracting 3 million spectators, according to organizers. 

It’s a perfect time to share in that magnificent feeling and enjoy the holidays.

Photos show Las Vegas nightclub beating alleging involving NFL’s Alvin Kamara as victim files $10M lawsuit

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- A civil lawsuit filed Friday against New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara includes photographs of the alleged beating of a man outside of a Las Vegas nightclub and asks a jury to award the victim $10 million. Kamara, Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Chris Lammons and two other men face criminal charges connected to the incident outside of a Strip nightclub on Feb. 5 during the NFL Pro Bowl weekend. A civil lawsuit filed Friday against New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara includes photographs of the alleged beating of a man outside of a Las Vegas nightclub. (District court/KLAS) Darnell Greene filed the lawsuit in a Louisiana court, the 8 News Now Investigators confirmed Friday. The filing includes a request for compensatory and punitive damages. Henderson police nab suspect in discharge of firearm

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- Henderson police on Sunday said they detained a suspect in the discharge of a firearm in a neighborhood just south of the St. Rose Parkway. SWAT (Special Weapons Attack Team) and CNT (Crisis Negotiation Team) officers along with fire department crews responded shortly after noon to an area near 900 Seven Hills Drive and a suspect complied with direction, police said. The suspect was taken into custody without incident and no injuries were reported, police said. Police did not provide the gender of the suspect or any other information.
